A 32-year-old woman and her young son were allegedly racially abused by a man on a mobility scooter in Folkestone.

Police are trying to trace anyone who may have witnessed the incident which was reported to have happened on the corner of Cheriton Road and Shorncliffe Road in Folkestone last month.

A woman was returning from a dentist appointment with her young son at about 3.30pm on Friday, January 27, when she met a man on a mobility scooter as she walked round a corner.

She apologised and moved out of his way but it is alleged that he got off the scooter and came up very close to her, shouting racial abuse.

PC Craig Jacobs said: “The woman and her son were left very upset by the incident and they said that there were several people in the area who may have seen what happened and could assist our investigation.”

Anyone who can help should contact Kent Police on 101, giving crime reference ZY/2748.
